Forty people commented the word under the post. Somebody sat there sending forty messages by hand, and never saw the ones that came in at two in the morning.

What it connects

The gap it closes

Instagram has one move nothing else has: you put something up, you ask people to comment a word, and they do it. That is the easy part. The hard part is that every one of them is now waiting on a message from you, and a caption cannot hold the link, the price list or the code, so somebody has to open the app and send them one at a time. Here the post itself does the answering. The word arrives, and the person who said it gets your reply in the comment, the thing they actually asked for in a message, or both.

Where it fits

Reach for it when your posts ask people to do something and you answer them by hand. It suits a business that runs offers, waiting lists, guides or codes on Instagram. You connect the business or creator account you post from. It is added in the planner, beside your other accounts.

Questions

What people ask

We run the comment-the-word posts. Does this actually send the messages?

Yes. Somebody comments and the answer goes to them. You choose whether it is a public reply under the post, a private message, or both. The forty people who commented overnight are answered by morning, because nobody had to be awake for it.

Can we set it on one post rather than everything we put up?

Yes, and that is usually the point. Pick the post the offer is on. Comments on everything else carry on as they always did, and only the one you are running gets an answer.

Does everyone who comments get it, or only the ones who said the right thing?

You decide. Answer everybody who comments, or only the ones who used the word you asked for. Most offers work better on the word, because that is what you told people to type.

If it replies in the comments, does it then answer its own reply?

No. It knows its own replies and leaves them alone. A post runs all week on the same word, and the thread stays a conversation with real people.

What else goes out from here besides the offer posts?

Posts, Stories and Reels, written and scheduled ahead. Collaborator posts go up too, so a piece made with somebody else appears on both accounts.
