What was promised on the call reaches the person delivering it

A finished recording brings its transcript and summary onto the record, so the follow-up is written from what was actually said.

Fig. 01 — What changes
Today

At 2pm on Tuesday someone promises the revised figure by Friday. It is captured perfectly in the recording tool, and the person who has to produce it never opens that tool.

What it connects

The gap it closes

Fathom already solved forgetting. The call is recorded, transcribed and summarised, and it is all sitting there. The trouble is where there is. At two on a Tuesday somebody says we will have the revised figure to you by Friday, and it is captured perfectly, in a tool the person who has to produce that figure has never opened. They work off the record. So Friday goes by. Connect Fathom and a finished recording brings the transcript, the summary and who was on the call over to the record, where the work is tracked. The follow-up is then written from what was said rather than from what somebody remembers, and it can go out on its own. One thing to set up properly: meetings are matched to people by the email address they joined with, which you tell it how to read. Get that right and the meeting files itself against the right client.

Where it fits

Reach for this where the call is the deliverable and the person who sold it is not the person who does it. Consulting, agencies, advisers, anyone whose commitments are made out loud and then have to be handed over.

The ledger

What stops being your job

01

The call lands where the work is

Transcript, summary and participants on the client's record. The person delivering the work reads what was agreed rather than asking for it.

02

The follow-up writes itself from the call

The recap email or the task list can go out minutes after the meeting, built from what was actually said on it.

03

It files against the right client

Meetings are matched by the address people joined with. Set that once and every call lands on the person it was about.

Questions

What people ask

What comes across from Fathom?

Recordings, their transcripts, their summaries and who was on the call. It is a one-way trip into your records, and that is the whole scope. Fathom keeps doing what it does; this is about the transcript reaching someone who would never have gone looking for it.

How soon after the meeting?

Minutes. Fathom has to finish processing the recording first, so it is not the moment you hang up. Slow enough to notice, fast enough that the recap still goes out while the meeting is the last thing everyone did.

How does it know whose meeting it was?

The email address the person joined with, matched to their record. You set that up. Worth knowing that a client who joins from a personal address is a different address, so tell it the ones your people actually use.
