Fig. 01 — What changes
Today

Somebody opens the competitor's pricing page every few weeks, when they think of it. In between, a quote goes out against a number that moved a month ago and nobody in the room knows.

What it connects

The gap it closes

A competitor moved their price on Tuesday and you found out on Friday, from a customer, in the middle of losing the job. Checking is nobody’s actual job, so it happens when somebody remembers.

Point this at the pages that already matter to you and it reads them for you, and the moment one of them changes the work starts here.

Where it fits

Sits beside the handful of pages you keep meaning to check and never do.

What it does once connected

What stops being your job

01

You hear on the day

A price, a headline or a listing moves and the team is told at once. The gap between it changing and you knowing closes.

02

A link somebody sends is read

A customer puts a web address in your form. What is on that page comes back on their record, without anyone opening it.

03

Thin records get filled in

A batch of half-empty records is completed from what those businesses publish. One go, rather than one at a time by hand.

In practice

Watch one go through

One job going through, start to finish, with nobody watching it. The steps are what this connection actually does; the times beside them are illustrative.

Questions

What people ask

What does this actually do for us?

Three things. It watches pages you choose and tells you when one changes. It reads a web address somebody hands you and brings the detail back onto their record. And it fills in a batch of records from what those businesses publish. That is the scope.

What sort of pages would we point it at?

The ones you already keep half an eye on. A competitor's prices. A supplier's terms. A listing you appear on. A trade directory you are judged against. Anything published on a business page that you would go and look at yourself, if the afternoon ever allowed it.

How soon do we hear about a change?

The follow-up starts as soon as the reading finishes. Whoever needs to know is told, and the job of doing something about it is raised while it still matters. The change and your response stop being a week apart.

Our customers send us links. Is that any use here?

Yes, and it is the quietest saving. Someone pastes a web address into your form and the detail from that page comes back attached to them. The person who picks up the enquiry starts from something, rather than opening a browser and reading it themselves.

We have hundreds of records with almost nothing on them. Can it help there?

That is the third use. A batch of thin records is filled in from what each of those businesses publishes about itself. It runs as one job. What comes back turns a name in a list into a record somebody can pick up and act on.
